Otto has more than 17 (seventeen) years´ experience as a tax and corporate lawyer and consultant, working in administrative and judicial tax litigation throughout Brazil, as well as in tax consultancy with focus on indirect taxes.
In his career, he has worked as a Tax Consultant for PwC and was a nominal partner of a renowned law firm specialized in tax law for 10 (ten) years, having been recognized by the publication Análise Advocacia 500 among the Most Admired Lawyers in the tax area in 2017, 2018 and 2023.
In the area of administrative litigation, his practice is based on combining the experience of tax consultants to build up the body of evidence in cases, including the use of technology tools (Tax IT), with excellent results. The firm has worked before Conselho Administrativo de Recursos Fiscais (Administrative Council for Tax Appeals) (CARF), State Courts (TIT/SP, CCRJ, CCMG, CAT/GO, CERF/ES, CONSEF/BA, CRF/AM, CCRF/PR, TATE/PE, among others) and Municipal Courts (CCM-RJ, CMT-SP, among others).
In judicial litigation, he has performed before the Courts of Justice, Federal Regional Courts and Superior Courts, in cases relating to federal, state and municipal taxes.
In addition to general consultancy work, tax modeling and tax planning, Otto Sobral has worked strategically on the monetization of tax assets for national and multinational companies, especially accumulated ICMS credits (e-Credac in São Paulo) and PIS/COFINS contributions (Fast Track under MF Ordinance 348/2010).
He graduated in Law from Universidade Estadual do Rio de Janeiro (UERJ) and was a master's student in the Professional Master's in Applied Tax Law at FGV/SP, in the Applied Tax Law research.
In the academic field, he is a visiting professor on lato sensu (MBA and LLM) and stricto sensu (Master's) postgraduate courses, lecturer and author of articles published in books and specialized magazines.
